Let’s start driving in Brentwood, Missouri!

Brentwood, Missouri is a town of just slightly less than two square miles. It is situated in an area of St. Louis County that gives it quick access to downtown St. Louis via I-64 on the northern edge of the city and by way of Highway 100 running through the south of Brentwood. Not far to the south is I-44, which also runs east-west toward downtown St. Louis. All are excellent roads on which to practice highway driving close to home for beginning Brentwood drivers.

The city of Brentwood by name is relatively young compared to the surrounding area, at just 100 years old. The area was settled beginning in 1804. Brentwood went by the name of Maddenville because of a prominent businessman named Thomas Madden who came to Brentwood in the 1870s. Maddenville was going to be annexed by the neighboring city of Maplewood so the residents of Maddenville incorporated Maddenville into the village of Brentwood in 1919. Ten years later, Brentwood became a city. Brentwood now has about 8,000 people and calls itself The City of Warmth.

Because of incorporation, Brentwood has two elementary schools, one middle school and one high school, providing the opposite driving environment to that of highway driving. Brentwood even offers a traffic calming program to help shape the behavior of drivers in Brentwood and help make it safer for pedestrians as well as runners and cyclists.

When you are ready to learn to drive with one of our instructors, you will need to obtain a learner’s permit from the Missouri DMV. The closest Missouri DMV office to Brentwood is located in Maplewood at Deer Creek Shopping Center #3238, Maplewood, MO 63143. Then when you start your driving lessons, one of our instructors will pick you up and drop you off at your house.
