Chesterfield, located about 25 miles west of St. Louis, sits along the I-64/U.S. Highway 40 corridor. The city, which is in St. Louis County, is relatively young, only being formed in 1988. Even though the city was only formed a little more than 20 years ago, its population of 47,484 according to the 2010 census makes it the 14th-largest city in Missouri. Five years after its formation, parts of Chesterfield were flooded by the flood of 1993. Since then, higher levees were built, and the area has experienced a lot of commercial development, which includes an outdoor strip mall that at one point was the largest outdoor strip mall in America, according to Wikipedia.
